Why am I required to have a background check/drug screen done?

Nationwide the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) has mandated that clinical agencies possess background checks and/or drug screens on their employees, contract personnel, and student volunteers.

I completed a background check through the CAS system when I applied to the program. Can I use this background check?

Yes, Doctor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Physical Therapy students may use the background check completed through the PharmCAS and PTCAS systems. Students should obtain a copy of their background check and upload it to Complio. Copies can be obtained by logging into your myCertiphi account at: www.certifiedprofile.com.

I am a post-licensure nursing student and understand I can submit my employer’s current comprehensive drug screen. What does comprehensive mean?

A comprehensive drug screen is a current drug screen, done within 364 days of the start of your program, and includes negative results for the following drug classes: amphetamines, barbiturates, benzoidiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, opiates, propoxyphene and phencyclidine.

Am I eligible to submit an employer background check and drug screening?

Specific programs are eligible to submit an employer background check and drug test. These items must be completed within one year of your intended program start date. Restrictions apply. Email RHCHP Compliance Office for further details: rhcomply@regis.edu.
