Frequently Asked Questions

CPR

Is there a particular CPR course I need to take and does it need to be with a specific organization?

Students must complete an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP). Students should complete this certification with an AHA certified training provider.

What if I don’t receive my AHA BLS for HCP card by the compliance deadline?

Please submit a letter from your instructor indicating that you completed the AHA BLS for HCP course, to include the course completion date. This will be sufficient documentation until your card is available. Once you receive your AHA BLS card, please upload it to Complio.

Can I submit a CPR certificate from ProCPR, ProFirstAid, American Red Cross or another certifying association that is consistent with the American Heart Association or follows AHA guidelines?

No. The only acceptable Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers training certificate is one completed by an official AHA training provider, which results in the issuance of an AHA BLS for HCP card/e-card with the AHA logo.
