What is PPD?

The PPD is also known as the Tuberculin (TB) Skin Test.

How long is the PPD good for?

PPD skin tests are good for one year from the PPD placement date. TB Blood Tests (QuantiFERON-TB Gold and T-Spot) are good for five years. TB chest x-rays are good for five years.

What if I have had positive PPD in the past because of either having the disease or receiving the BCG vaccine?

You will need to submit record of a current chest x-ray report stating that the findings were clear for Tuberculosis (TB). TB chest x-rays are good for five years. You will be compliant for one year following the chest x-ray and then you must submit a TB questionnaire form every year thereafter.

Will you accept the QuantiFERON-TB Gold or T-Spot blood test?

Pharmacy and Physical Therapy programs accept the TB Blood test, your results must be negative in order to meet the requirement. The QuantiFERON-TB Gold and T-Spot blood tests are both good for five years. You will be compliant for one year following the blood test and then you must submit a TB questionnaire form every year thereafter.
